Timeline Article: Titanic's Marconi Wireless System Breaks Down

On April 13th, Titanic's wireless system stops working near midnight. Wireless operator Jack Phillips (pictured left) does what he is not trained to do and takes apart the wireless system. He examines the condensers all night long before finding the burnt wire that grounded the system. He won't be able to get the system running again until 5am. Phillips and Bride are now six hours behind schedule.
