Lifeboat 5 is the second to be launched.
Lowered By: 1st Officer Murdoch. 3rd Officer Pitman, and 5th Officer Lowe
Crew member in charge: Third Officer Pitman

In the early stages of the sinking, Titanic still stood solid and majestic on the sea. The passengers were reluctant to leave the ship and the officers did not understand the magnitude of the situation because it had not yet become apparent. This lifeboat is launched from the starboard side with only 36 of it's 65 seats occupied.
